At ACARES we provide tailored disability accommodation services specialising in independent living options. Our properties include shared living arrangements and private apartments, and are custom designed to meet the NDIS design standards.
What is specialist disability accommodation?
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a form of housing that is designed to enable eligible National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants to receive the support they need to live in the community and improve the delivery of their supports.
SDA funding is provided to cover the capital (bricks and mortar) costs of the dwelling and to support investment in high quality SDA dwellings. It is not for person-to-person supports.
As it can take a long time to get SDA funding in your plan, it is recommended to start early. With the assistance of a support coordinator, it is advised to worker with Allied Health professionals who are experienced and have had success with getting SDA funding into an NDIS Plan.

*To be eligible for Specialist Disability Accommodation, you will need to be a NDIS participant and your plan needs to include approved Specialist Disability Accommodation Funding.
